ABOUT

Rise of the Protector, an 83,000 word YA Sci-Fantasy novel, combines the witty banter and steadfast loyalty of Chronicles of Nick and the pacing of Warcross, with a healthy dose of suspense, heart, and humor.

At seventeen, Jinx is doing a below average job of staying out of trouble.

In her defense, being the first and only reject from the Virtual World she was born to enter was a bit of a bummer.

While every other denizen on her space station trains for their future life in the VR (a reality designed for discovering higher wisdom and recording it), Jinx prepares for Galactic Release by shifting her trouble-making into overdrive.

When she isn’t sneaking into restricted areas searching for clues as to why her pineal gland (highly coveted as the key to ascension) mysteriously crapped out, she’s devising ways to check on the only denizen she cares for, Laris (the one soon to make her feel flush in unexpected ways).

But when the space station’s VR goes into lockdown, trapping Laris and thousands more, Jinx is pulled into a mystery. A race to uncover the truth reveals galactic thugs hunting pineal glands to produce the club drug—euphoria, and a zealot gunning for the prophesied One (the savior of organic life now fragile with the rise of technology).

Jinx isn’t convinced organic life, and the wisdom of humanity is worth protecting. She just wants to save her friend. With a waggish geek and an ice cream addicted tween AI by her side, she just might stand a chance.

But, hey, no pressure. She’s got till the end of the day.

Rise of the Protector is book one in The New World Chronicles Trilogy

Editor & Beta Reader Reviews

I love Jinx. The prose is excellent. The emotion is so often exquisitely handled. The ideas are fun, especially the crossbreeding between the spiritual and the science fictional. The dialogue is crisp and often hilarious. I've marked up the manuscript in more detail than I normally do as I got very emotionally invested. I believe that Jinx is an intelligent, ambitious YA novel that could really appeal to readers. Amy Bennet , Editor and Agented Novelist
